Hello my artist family!
Today I’m so excited for you to meet Darcy Fisher from Parker, Colorado. Darcy is one of those artists whose journey reminds us that it’s never too late to dive into creativity and start discovering what we’re capable of.
Darcy’s painting adventure began about two and a half years ago with Let’s Dabble. Before that, her only experience with painting was taking a Bob Ross class as a teenager, where she completed two paintings. And honestly, that makes me smile — because so many of us remember watching Bob Ross and thinking, “Maybe I could paint a happy little tree too.”
Since joining the Let’s Dabble community, Darcy says the last couple of years have been an amazing learning experience, and it’s been wonderful to see her grow as an artist. Stories like Darcy’s are such a great reminder that artistic journeys don’t have to start in childhood — sometimes all it takes is the right inspiration and the willingness to begin.
Living in Colorado, Darcy is surrounded by incredible natural beauty, and it’s the landscapes around her that inspire her creativity the most.
And if you’ve ever seen Colorado’s mountains and skies, you know exactly what I mean. With scenery like that outside your door, it’s almost impossible not to feel inspired to pick up a paint palette.

Darcy chose to share a painting that represents a meaningful milestone in her journey: the first person she has ever painted.
Now, painting people can feel like jumping straight into the deep end of the artistic pool. Faces have personality, expression, and all kinds of little details that can make artists a bit nervous the first time around. But Darcy took that step anyway, and that courage to try something new is exactly how artists grow.
When I asked Darcy what she enjoys most about DabblePaints™, she shared:
“I love the smooth texture, good pigment, and high quality, full coverage without needing a second coat.”
Hearing that always makes my artist heart happy, because creating paints that help artists work confidently and enjoy the process was exactly the goal from the beginning.
One of the things Darcy enjoys most about painting is the experience of learning and exploring new challenges. Choosing to share her first portrait painting says a lot about her willingness to step outside her comfort zone and keep growing as an artist.
And truly, those first attempts at something new are often the moments that push our creativity forward the most.
When I asked Darcy what advice she would give someone just starting their painting journey, she shared something simple but powerful:
“Be patient with yourself. It takes time and lots of practice to get better.”
That’s advice every artist needs to hear. Growth in art doesn’t happen overnight, but with patience and practice, your style and confidence begin to shine through.
Darcy, thank you for sharing your story and your artwork with our artist family. Your willingness to learn, experiment, and celebrate new milestones is such an inspiration to our community. Stories like yours remind us that every painting is part of a bigger creative journey.
Keep creating, keep shining, and keep bringing more beauty into the world.
XO,
Jen
