Hello my artist family!
Today I have the absolute joy of introducing you to one of the wonderful artists in our community, Ginny Linton from Bedford, Texas. Ginny’s story is such a beautiful reminder that creativity doesn’t come with an expiration date—it simply waits for the perfect moment to bloom. I know you’re going to love her journey as much as I do.
Ginny’s artistic story began with someone very special—her mom. After raising five younger siblings, Ginny watched with pride as her mother discovered painting in her 70s. Every time her mom finished a new piece, the family would race to be the first to claim it! I just love that image because it says so much about how art has the power to bring people together.
Inspired by her mother’s courage to try something new later in life, Ginny began her own artistic journey in her 70s after coming across one of my Facebook ads during COVID. What started as curiosity quickly became something much deeper. She describes painting as the most meditative thing she’s ever done, and I think so many of us can relate to that peaceful feeling of getting lost in color and creativity. Honestly, I think paint might be cheaper than therapy!
When I asked Ginny what inspires her creativity, her answer made me smile instantly: color. Whether she's watching a breathtaking sunset or admiring a field bursting with wildflowers, she's always ready to capture those beautiful moments and transform them into something uniquely her own on canvas. It’s no surprise that someone so inspired by nature creates artwork filled with vibrant life.

The incredible mix of colors immediately catches your eye, and the more you look, the more you discover. It has that wonderful quality where every person can see something a little different. I have a feeling if this painting could talk, it would politely remind us to stop overthinking and simply enjoy the beauty in front of us. It’s no wonder her niece, who serves as a Director of Nurses, proudly displays it in her office and receives compliments from visitors all the time.
One of the things Ginny loves most about DabblePaints™ made me grin from ear to ear. She shared:
"Ever since Jen and Matt presented us with their own brand of the creamiest acrylic paints ever, I’ve been gleefully slathering it on my canvas—maybe not very artfully, but with great fun!"
Oh, Ginny...I absolutely love that! "Gleefully slathering" might just be one of my new favorite painting descriptions. And honestly, if you're having fun creating, you're doing it exactly right.
When talking about this painting, Ginny shared that she was inspired by the beautiful combination of colors and loved the freedom of creating it as an abstract. I think that's one of the greatest gifts of abstract art—it invites us to let go, trust the process, and simply enjoy the journey. Sometimes the colors know exactly where they want to go before we do.
When I asked Ginny what advice she'd give someone who's just beginning their painting journey, she offered these encouraging words:
"If you are hesitant about painting, just go for it! Don’t worry about what someone else might think of it. Only enjoy the joy of making something colorful and meaningful to you."
Isn't that such wonderful advice? Art isn't about perfection—it's about expression, joy, and giving yourself permission to create something that's meaningful to you.
