Artist Spotlight: Deanna Taylor

Hello my artist family!

I’m so excited for you to meet Deanna Taylor from Delta, Ohio — an artist whose journey is filled with creativity, resilience, and that beautiful moment when passion finds its way back home. Her story is one so many of us will relate to.

Deanna shared that she has loved art since she was young. She grew up watching Bob Ross, which honestly feels like a pretty wonderful way to begin any creative life. Later, she discovered airbrushing and took her talents everywhere — vehicles, boats, filing cabinets, and even people. If it stood still long enough, Deanna was probably ready to paint it.

But as life often does, things got busy. Family, kids, work, responsibilities — and her art had to take a backseat for a season. Yet creativity has a funny way of waiting patiently for us. Once her children got a little older, Deanna found herself scrolling Facebook one day and came across one of my ads. She saw that joyful, thick texture flying across the canvas in those free nature scenes and thought, I HAVE TO TRY THAT!

And just like that… she was hooked.

What I love most about Deanna’s story is how she came from the world of airbrushing — where everything is controlled and precise — into a style that invited freedom, texture, and expression. That takes courage. Sometimes the most beautiful growth happens when we loosen our grip and let joy lead the way.

When I asked what inspires her creativity the most, Deanna’s answer was absolutely heartfelt: the feeling nature gives her. Light dancing across flowers, breathtaking sunrise and sunset skies, and the memories certain scenes bring rushing back — family vacations, childhood moments, peaceful times she treasures. Nature doesn’t just inspire her… it reconnects her to joy.

And the painting she chose to share carries that same spirit. Deanna said she’s especially proud of this one because floral paintings have been a challenge for her, so she kept practicing and pushing through. She also shared that she painted this piece a little looser than usual — something she’s been working toward. Now that is an artist win worth celebrating. Sometimes the victory isn’t just the finished painting… it’s becoming the version of yourself who painted it.

I also want to lovingly honor Deanna’s honesty when she shared that she hasn’t yet been able to try DabblePaints™ because finances are tight right now. So many artists understand that reality, and I know her words will resonate with others. Deanna, your creativity is not defined by the brand of paint in your hands — it shines through your passion, persistence, and heart. And whenever the day comes that you do try them, I’ll be cheering you on right along with you.

When it comes to what she enjoys most about painting, you can feel how much pride and growth matter to her. She keeps showing up, keeps practicing, and keeps stretching beyond old habits. That willingness to grow is where the magic lives.

And when I asked what advice she’d give someone just starting out, she shared such wonderful wisdom:

“Just keep painting and practicing because every painting you learn more. Watch other artists paint in different styles and techniques, take little pieces from all of them, and incorporate them into your style. Don’t be afraid to try new things.”

Yes, yes, and yes. Every painting teaches us something, and every brave experiment adds another brushstroke to who we are becoming.

Deanna, thank you for sharing your journey, your honesty, and your heart with us. Your story is a beautiful reminder that creativity can return at any season of life — and when it does, it often blooms brighter than ever. You are inspiring so many artists in this community to keep going and trust their own path.

Keep creating, keep shining, and keep bringing more beauty into the world.

XO,
 Jen
