Artist Spotlight: Peggy Roberson

Hello my artist family!

Today I’m so excited to introduce you to a wonderful artist from Georgetown, Kentucky—Peggy Roberson.

Peggy considers herself a professional artist, and after hearing a bit about her journey, I can absolutely see why. She’s spent years growing, creating, learning, and sharing her artwork with others. She’s sold her art along the way and continues to do so, but what really touched my heart was hearing how her confidence as an artist blossomed over time.

Like many artists, Peggy’s journey hasn’t always been a straight path. In fact, as a child, she was told she couldn’t color inside the lines—and that somehow meant she wasn’t doing it right.

Well, I’m pretty grateful she decided not to listen.

These days, Peggy has fully embraced what she lovingly calls being a "Messy Artist," and honestly, I think there’s something beautiful about that. Art isn’t about fitting neatly inside someone else’s lines. It’s about expressing yourself, finding joy in the process, and creating in a way that feels authentic to you.

Peggy shared that everything changed when she discovered Let’s Dabble. For the past two years, she has found a style that truly speaks to her, and she describes the experience as life-changing. Hearing stories like that is exactly why I love this community so much.

When I asked Peggy what fuels her creativity, her answer wasn't a particular place or subject—it was people.

She finds inspiration in being part of this artist family, watching fellow artists grow, learning from one another, and asking questions along the way. She loves seeing the progress others make and celebrating their successes. One of her favorite moments is hearing someone say they love one of her paintings or that they feel like they could step right into it.

And honestly, what a wonderful compliment that is. When a painting makes someone feel like they can walk right into the scene, you know you've created something special.

Peggy also shared how supportive her husband is, and I absolutely loved hearing that. She said he thinks every painting she creates is wonderful—even when she isn't so sure herself. Every artist deserves someone in their corner cheering them on like that.

Peggy chose to share the painting currently sitting on her easel because it was simply fun to create, and she was happy with how it turned out.

I love that answer.

Sometimes we choose a painting because it tells a powerful story. Sometimes it represents a breakthrough moment. And sometimes it's because the entire process brought us joy from beginning to end. Those are the paintings that remind us why we fell in love with creating in the first place.

When asked what she loves most about DabblePaints™, Peggy didn't hesitate:

"Everything about the Dabble Paints is perfect. The colors and creamy texture and the way they go on the canvas. I practice with my old acrylics sometimes but there is nothing like Dabble Paints!"

When I read that, I couldn't help but smile. The creamy texture, vibrant colors, and smooth application are exactly what I hoped artists would experience when using these paints. Hearing that they bring so much joy to the painting process means the world to me.

One thing that shines through in Peggy’s story is how much she enjoys the process of creating.

The painting she selected was especially meaningful because she genuinely enjoyed painting it and was proud of the finished result. Those moments when you step back from the easel, look at your work, and think, "Yes, this is exactly what I hoped it would be," are worth celebrating.

And if that celebration happens to include admiring your painting a few extra times throughout the day, I fully support it.

When I asked Peggy what advice she would give someone just starting their painting journey, her answer was simple and powerful:

"Continue to paint often and be positive about your art! Remember, you can change anything!"

I love that wisdom.

Painting is wonderfully forgiving. Don't like a section? Change it. Wish a color were different? Adjust it. Think you've made a mistake? Sometimes those unexpected moments become your favorite part of the painting.

The key is to keep painting, keep learning, and keep believing in yourself.

Peggy, thank you for sharing your story with our artist family. Your journey is such a beautiful reminder that confidence grows one painting at a time and that creativity doesn't have to fit inside anyone else's lines. Your positivity, perseverance, and willingness to keep creating are inspiring, and I know so many artists will see a little bit of themselves in your story.

Keep creating, keep shining, and keep bringing more beauty into the world.

XO,
Jen
