Description
Most people who want to start painting never do, because the first step is a shopping list. Paints you have not heard of, tools you are not sure about, and a trip to a store where nobody can tell you which one is right.
There is no list here. One box arrives, and you sit down and paint.
Aspens in full gold, the way they look for about two weeks in October and then not again for a year.
This is the painting I am best known for, and it is also one of the kindest ones to start on. Trees forgive. There is no straight line anywhere in a grove, and no leaf has to land in a particular place. You build the white trunks first, then the gold comes over the top in small strokes until the light looks right.
The palette runs warm. Lemon yellow and yellow ochre carry the leaves, burnt sienna and burnt umber the trunks and shadow, and there is phthalo green, light blue and ultramarine in there for the depth behind the grove. Modeling paste is what makes the bark stand off the canvas.
- Twelve 4oz colors: Lemon Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Buff White, Titanium White, Neutral Gray, Ivory Black, Phthalo Green, Light Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Dark Purple
- 16oz Gloss Gel and 16oz Modeling Paste
- Palette knives 1, 7 and 9, brushes 0, 12 and 24, and ten paint scoops

Your hands already know how to do this.
No drawing skills needed for this one. There is no sketching and no pencil.
You scoop up thick paint with a palette knife and press it onto the card. One small dab, then another over the top of it. The tree builds itself out of the dabs. That is the whole technique, and it is the same one I use on work that hangs in galleries.
Your hands have been making beautiful things your whole life. This is simply the next beautiful thing they were always meant to make.
You don't need to find your inner artist. She's already there.
I am with you the whole way.
The lesson is filmed start to finish, from a blank card to a signed one. You see every layer go down, in real time, from my side of the table. Nothing is sped up and nothing is cut.
Pause it. Rewind it. Paint the whole thing in one sitting or come back to it next week. It is yours to keep, so there is no rush and no clock.

Frequently Asked Questions
How big is the canvas?
Aspen Gold is painted on an 14x11 inch canvas, but you can create this on any size canvas you want! Jen recommends purchasing a level 3 “Artist Loft” canvas from your local Michael's store. You can also get this canvas on Amazon: https://link.amazon/B0dZ88YbJ
Do I need anything that is not in the box?
Water, a paper towel, and a flat surface. That is the whole list.
I have never painted anything. Is this really for me?
Yes. That is who it was built for. No drawing skills needed for this one, and the palette knife is the most forgiving tool there is.
How long do I have the lesson?
It is yours to keep.
What if it does not turn out?
Reply to any email from me and I will sort it out personally. A refund, or a different kit, whatever makes it right. No forms.
Is this harder than the card kits?
It is bigger, not harder. The strokes are the same ones, you are just making more of them.

I have been painting for 28 years and teaching women to paint since 2020. My work hangs in over fifty galleries and in the homes of more than 6,500 collectors. This is where a lot of women start.
